Why are bras so expensive, and what does this sign mean? - Lets get into it!
Let's talk bras, and the cost of a properly fitted garment.
First... let us explain this little sign in all of our fitting rooms. We have looked at the cost of our bras from our favorite bra brands and compared the cost of some of the competitors.
First... let us explain this little sign in all of our fitting rooms. We have looked at the cost of our bras from our favorite bra brands and compared the cost of some of the competitors.
Here is what we found... on average our competitors bras market for between $70 - $120 per bra. With proper wash and care these garments need to be replaced on average every 4-6 months, between stretching, wires popping or overall break down of structure and fabrics. So lets look at the math... in a space of 2 years with one bra costing $70 x 4 (replacement every 6 months) your spending an estimated $280.00. Now divide that by 730 days in that 2 year period and your looking at .38/per day on the low side.
Now lets compare to one of our top brands. In this case we will use the Cassiopee from Empreinte. This beautiful bra is one of our best selling styles, and retails for $219.95. While this bra will cost more on the initial investment, you save money looking at the break down of the cost for a higher quality bra. This bra breaks down to .30/per day over a two year period. This of course also depends on if the wash and care instructions are being followed. With proper care our higher quality bras will last well past the 2 year mark. Thus, further reducing the over all cost. We would recommend having 2 or 3 bras to rotate out, extending the life even further.
Which leads us to our next thought... why are bras so expensive?
I mean okay... yeah... the break down makes sense... but why is that Prima Donna bra $174.95 in the first place?
Excellent question...

First and foremost bras are significantly harder to make then the average t-shirt or pair of pants. A bra is made up of several parts. Prima Donna is another one of our favorite brands. We found a great article detailing exactly why these bras are worth their price points. Read it here!
So many factors are relevant to the price of bras: from original design time and research to the quality of materials; including how they are assembled and how wide the size range is. There are also the ever rising shipping fees as well. Many of our bras are coming from Europe and it costs a few pennies to get them here, where you can try them on!
One of the most important things to remember is this: bras that last longer will cost more. While we always have options for most price points and budgets, some bras that are more budget friendly may not last as long. When you come into our store, we will go over all of these things with you. We will show you all of your options, and make sure they fit you the way they should, thus saving you some pennies not returning your online order since it was the wrong size or shape... or both.
What we do hope is that we can lessen the sticker shock for our clients, but making sure they know, it's not just a bra. It is you making an investment for yourself. Making sure you have the best support and are comfortable being in the proper sizes/shapes to promote your breast health! In the long run you are saving yourself money by investing in you AND your lingerie wardrobe!
